ADULT EDUCATION TEACHER – State of Florida Position Summary Current Career Service position located at Sago Palm Reentry Center in the Education Department. The Adult Basic Education/GED® Instructor is responsible for delivering instruction in Math/Science, Reading‑Language Arts, and Social Studies through a blended instructional model. The role requires in‑person teaching at a correctional institution and reports to the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) office that serves the area. Salary & Compensation Annual Salary: $51,500.02 Pay Plan: Career Service Position Number: 70046652 Eligibility for a $1,499.94 annual master’s degree stipend and a one‑time $1,000 hiring bonus for qualified temporary or professional teaching certificates. Job Duties Plan, develop, and conduct classes in assigned subjects using various teaching techniques to promote student advancement. Supervise inmates in class, conduct roll calls, maintain attendance records, and enforce discipline. Continuously evaluate student progress, administer grades and tests, and ensure classroom order. Provide counseling and advice on program progress, behavior, or personal concerns. Participate in staff meetings, seminars, workshops, and professional development activities; assist with budget preparation and purchase requests for the education program. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college/university. Possess or be eligible to obtain a State of Florida Educator’s Certificate within 12 months of hire; non‑certified applicants must obtain a temporary certificate promptly and transition to a professional certificate before the temporary certificate expires.
