Job Description

Company:

David creates tools to increase muscle and decrease fat. Our first product is a protein bar. This is a compelling opportunity to join an exciting new brand as we enter a critical growth stage and make our debut into fashion.

Led by CEO Peter Rahal, Cofounder and Former CEO of RXBAR, David is working to become the leading consumer food brand focused on high-protein foods in North America and beyond.

Role:

We’re looking for an Apparel Designer with strong technical expertise to drive the development of our first capsule collection. This role will oversee the design lifecycle, from initial concept through final fit approval.

You’ll work closely with the CEO, Special Projects Manager, and external partners to translate the brand vision into innovative, high-quality garments. The ideal candidate combines creative design talent, technical precision, excellent communication skills, and an entrepreneurial mindset.

Responsibilities:

Design Development

  • Collaborate with the team to translate creative concepts into innovative and production-ready garments.
  • Develop design sketches to evaluate color, trims, silhouettes, and styling.
  • Collaborate on sourcing and selecting appropriate fabrics, materials, trims, and finishings that align with performance, quality, and aesthetic goals.
  • Help refine the visual identity of the collection and ensure designs reflect brand identity and cultural relevance.

Technical Design and Product Management

  • Create and maintain comprehensive technical packages using industry-standard practices to ensure accuracy and clarity for manufacturers.
  • Manage pattern and sample development, ensuring prototypes align with design intent, fit, sizing, and quality standards.
  • Lead fit sessions, document detailed feedback, and oversee implementation of corrections.
  • Help identify and liaise with manufacturers and vendors to ensure quality control, adherence to production deadlines, and alignment with technical specifications.
  • Coordinate material and garment testing to ensure compliance with quality and performance standards.

Requirements

What you’ll bring:

  • 3+ years of apparel design experience; activewear or performance apparel experience preferred.
  • Proven proficiency in garment construction, materials, and finishings with a focus on quality and innovation.
  • Experience building tech packs using industry-standard tools and practices.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop) and 3D design software.
  • Experience collaborating with manufacturers from concept to production.
  • A self-starting attitude with a love for executing on ideas and moving quickly.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, lean environment with high standards.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a strong sense of aesthetic and functional design.
  • Humility, self-awareness, and curiosity.
  • A desire to help build an early-stage company with a mission to create tools to increase muscle and decrease fat.
  • Must have a portfolio of work demonstrating garment design and technical experience.

Benefits

Practicalities:

  • This is a part-time role, with potential to transition into a full-time role.
  • Base pay range: $50 - $80/hour, dependent on experience and subject to further discussion.
  • Approximately 15 - 20 hours per week expected; subject to change following initial design phases.
  • Based in New York City or able to regularly commute to our New York City office and manufacturing partners.

Application Process:

  • Applications will be evaluated on a rolling basis.
  • The target start date for this role is December 2025.
