Role Summary

AFLALO is seeking a motivated Assistant Designer to join our New York team. This is a foundational role, supporting the design studio with both creative and organizational tasks. The ideal candidate has a refined eye, strong technical skills, and the ambition to grow within a luxury house. You’ll sketch, research, and help translate ideas into beautifully made garments while also handling the practical details that keep the studio running smoothly.

Responsibilities

• Support the design team in developing seasonal concepts and collections across ready-to-wear and denim
• Assist with sketching, CADs, mood boards, and research projects
• Prepare design boards, reference archives, and presentation materials
• Organize trims, fabrics, samples, and studio materials
• Track samples, maintain archives, and assist in fittings
• Collaborate with product development and technical design to ensure design intent is carried through prototypes
• Provide hands-on support during studio preparations and seasonal photoshoots

Qualifications

• 0–2 years of design experience in luxury or contemporary womenswear (internships or entry-level roles welcome)
• Strong sketching and CAD skills; proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
• Knowledge of garment construction, fabrics, and finishing details is a plus
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and eager to learn
• Strong communicator who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative studio environment
• A portfolio that demonstrates aesthetic sensibility and technical ability
