\n \n\n \nThe Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) is responsible for providing clinical expertise in his/her specialty area to optimize patient/family, nurse, and systems outcomes. The CNS directly or indirectly plans, implements, and evaluates patient and family specific care appropriate to the complexity of the problems and resources of the system. Also assesses and evaluates care delivery models, and implements changes based on outcome data. The CNS develops education programs to improve patient outcomes and quality of care.
