Job Description

GPAC has partnered with a company that’s expanding in the drilling industry. We are looking for someone who is conscientious, safe, quick thinking under extreme conditions and doesn’t mind overtime. The position requires supervision of employees while running a drilling rig efficiently. Must have First Aid card and Blow Out Prevention card at the Drilling Supervisor level.

Duties


  • Responsible for operation, training, safety and supervision of rig and crew
  • Responsible for maintenance and well condition and reporting status to appropriate authorities
  • Able to advise oil company of everything pertaining to drilling program, monitoring mud and hole conditions for blowout conditions
  • Extensively familiar with all operations of the rig and subsurface tools
  • Skilled in certain relative figures that apply in daily rig operations (torque, weight, depth, ton miles etc
  • Performs any other duties that may be assigned

Knowledge Needed & Expectations


  • Driller is expected to understand and accept the Nordic Safety Program and cooperate with management
  • How to establish safe work practices and give job instruction, especially to new workers
  • Corrects any unsafe condition or acts immediately
  • Reports and investigates with management all incidents/accidents on his shift
  • Responsible to ensure any worker who appears to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol or appears to be hung over is not transported to the worksite. The Driller shall inform the Rig Manager who will arrange for a replacement worker
  • Ensures that all environmental policies are adhered to in accordance with government policies
  • Ensures Nordic HSE policies are reviewed and practiced by all rig personnel.
  • Ensures Nordic’s annual environmental goals are distributed and reviewed by rig personnel.
  • Assists Rig Manager in identifying non-conformances between Nordic operations and environmental requirements, including regulatory requirements, permit requirements, and contract requirements.

Minimum Qualifications


  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to obtain or currently hold North Slope Training Cooperative card.
  • Must have at least 5 years of rig experience with at least 2 years as a derrickman or motorman on a similar arctic drilling rig. Internal promotions are restricted to personnel with 1 year experience as a relief driller.
  • Must have a current first aid card, H2S, and a United States Geologic Survey (USGS)- or Mineral Management Service (MMS)-approved Supervisors blowout prevention card. Must possess a current Well Control Certificate at the Drilling Supervisor level.
  • Must be functionally literate, able to read, write, and perform basic math.
