Salary: From $30.00 - $35.00 per hour

Job Details:

• The pay range is dependent on coder experience

Experience Requirements:

• Certification from a nationally recognized accrediting agency for medical coding, such as the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) or the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC)
• Acceptable certifications includeCCS, CPC, CRC, RHIT
• A minimum of three (3) years experience in medical coding (inpatient AND/OR outpatient ICD-10 coding). No CPC-A, CDI, Revenue Integrity Specialist, Revenue Cycle, LPN, or HIMS as the most recent experience
• Well versed with current coding principles
• HCC experience is preferred but not required
• Coding software experience is preferred (i.e., 3M, Optum 360, TruCode, etc.) but not required
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology
• Ability to follow detailed instructions, work independently with minimum supervision, and meet deadlines
• Strong computer skills, including data entry. Familiarity with web-based audit tools is a plus
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Goal-oriented, organized team player

Employment Requirements:

• Has a smart phone or iPad to access the audit tool
• Must attend mandatory 4-day virtual training
• Must attend mandatory daily coder calls throughout the project (typically 1PM EST)
• New coders must commit a minimum of 32 hours per week Monday through Friday anytime between 6 AM to 6 PM in their respective time zone
• Coders will have the opportunity to make up hours for appointments, unforeseen circumstances, sickness, etc. throughout the week and/or weekend upon advance notice

• Has not been employed at one or more of the following BY23 Issuer entities with experience in ACA coding from 1/1/23 through present day (solely Medicare/Medicare Advantage coding is acceptable)

Responsibilities:

• Performing diagnosis abstraction for inpatient and outpatient records
• Validating of acceptable medical record dates of service
• Validating of acceptable medical record signatures
• Verifying that the medical record originates from the provider of the medical service(s) and that the medical record reflects state-acceptable provider credentials licensed to diagnose
