Akkodis is currently seeking a Training Specialist for a manufacturing company in the Rochester, NY metropolitan area. The ideal candidate for the role is an experienced manufacturing professional with strong communication and coaching skills, capable of delivering hands-on training, creating clear job instructions, and supporting continuous improvement in a fast-paced production environment. Salary Range: $85,000-105,000

Responsibilities:

• Deliver structured training sessions (Job Instruction, Job Methods, and Job Relations) in both classroom and on-the-job settings across multiple shifts.
• Partner with production, training, and quality teams to create, update, and maintain Job Instruction Breakdowns (JIBs) and other standard work documents.
• Support consistent application of standardized work practices across departments and shifts.
• Provide follow-up coaching and reinforcement of training to ensure skills are retained and applied on the production floor.
• Identify, document, and share best practices for efficiency, safety, and quality.
• Observe operator performance, evaluate training effectiveness, and provide feedback to leads and supervisors.
• Support onboarding and cross-training efforts by ensuring instruction is delivered consistently and effectively.
• Track and report training participation, skill certifications, and performance improvements.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and problem-solving activities that strengthen workforce capability.
• Maintain training documentation in compliance with company procedures, quality, and safety standards.
• Act as a role model for standardized work, continuous improvement, and collaborative teamwork.

Requirements:

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in training, operations, manufacturing, or related field; equivalent experience (15+ years) may be accepted.
• 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, operations, or training roles.
• Hands-on experience delivering training in a production environment.
• Strong facilitation and communication skills for diverse learner groups.
• Familiarity with Lean tools, standard work, and structured training systems.
• Ability to develop clear job instructions and break tasks into teachable steps.
• Skilled in coaching, follow-up, and knowledge retention.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; Learning Management System (LMS) experience preferred.
• Organized, proactive, and committed to employee development.
• Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, regulated environment.

Preferred:

• Experience with TWI methodologies (Job Instruction, Job Methods, Job Relations) or equivalent training systems.
• Background in life sciences, medical device, or other regulated manufacturing environments.
