Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a Level 3 trauma center, requiring at least 2 years of recent ICU experience and BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.

Responsibilities

• Work in a mixed ICU setting at a Level 3 trauma center with an 18-bed unit
• Handles medical, surgical, neuro, and cardiovascular ICU cases with a focus on medical cases
• Patient diagnoses include DKA, multisystem failure, ARDS, sepsis, open abdomen, CVA, and post-operative cardiac surgery
• Typical patient ratios are 1:2-3 based on acuity
• Utilizes EPIC for charting, BD Alaris IV pumps, and Pyxis for medication dispensing
• 12-hour day shifts with every other weekend rotation
• Possible floating to respiratory unit, surgical, tele, PCU, or ED under Helping Hands model
• Scrub attire of any professional color is permitted
• Will not be assigned to patients on CRRT, impella, balloon pumps, or ECMO
• May occasionally care for neurosurgical or cardiovascular cases but rarely neuro/trauma ICU
• Teamwork emphasized through the Helping Hands float model
• Professional appearance required for scrubs with no color restrictions
• Night shifts may be organized in clustered schedules for convenience

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license is required
• Minimum of 2 years recent ICU nursing experience is required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required
• Skills needed include cardiac rhythm interpretation, medication titration, proning, hypothermia protocol, chest tubes, drains, and invasive line monitoring (a-lines, CVP)
• Experience with EPIC charting preferred
• Travel nursing experience strongly preferred
