Capozza Residence

With a large extended family and a multitude of friends, the Capozza’s dream home is a social magnet for all. The family comes together to enjoy true gourmet meals prepared by the family’s patriarch, to play in the surrounding gardens and to find quiet space away from the good vibrations of day. The front garden features a gracious entry courtyard that doubles as an entertaining space. Enclosed by stone walls and custom wood gates, the entry court has a rustic fountain and an outdoor kitchen complete with a dual fireplace pizza oven set among mature field grown Olives. The backyard is separated into two terraces, the upper with a bocce ball court, putting green, artificial lawn, citrus trees and an outdoor campfire for roasting marshmallows. The lower terrace, houses the pool and spa, in a form reminiscent of the courtyard fountain, but on a grander scale.  Plant material is selected for its low water requirements, color, texture, and often, its edible nature. A fig tree, apple tree, and citrus anchor the vegetable garden while shrub roses, ornamental grasses and ground cover blanket the garden space. For the kids, a large pile of sand surrounded by beach grass, functions as a huge sand box, while in another corner of the yard for the adults, a delicately laid stone labyrinth is used for quite meditation and reflection. The artistry of this garden comes through the collaboration between the Capozza family, the Contractor and the Landscape Architect.  Although freshly installed, the home already has a lived in feel, and over time, the pleasures of the garden will continue to grow and change with the family.
